What I really want for Christmas…
What I really want for Christmas is a big mirror to show society its ugly self and change for the better. Or to say it not so nicely, I want people to get over themselves and stop sucking. I mean, I will help you. I want to help you and make a difference. I truly want the world to be a better place. The problem is, the world doesn’t want to be better. We embrace misery and strive to inflict our pain into anyone who crosses our paths. We allow the most minuscule events to consume us, “I didn’t get my side of ranch” or ”you’re out of potstickers, my life is ruined.” Then we take that event and use it to our advantage, vindicating our misery. “I complained and got free stuff, so it was worth it.”
I’m a big proponent of good customer service, but unfortunately corporate america has taught consumers that customer service means getting whatever you want for free.
So, how do we break this cycle. How can I even start to change a system that continues to reward such negativity?
I’ll start small. I wish for society to treat their fellow humans as they would themselves…remember that your bartender/server is also human…smile and say hello when approached…say please and thank you…and focus on the good, not the bad. In return, I’ll promise to keep brainstorming and working towards my goal.
